Sevilla Reggio Emilia School: the educational revolution that connects learning, art, and natures
An international and bilingual school where spaces, the arts, and emotional listening play a leading role in the comprehensive development of students. Sevilla Reggio Emilia School is positioned as a unique alternative within the educational landscape in Spain. Based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy, this bilingual center combines careful aesthetics, sustainable learning, and a focus on the arts and music, promoting comprehensive development from Early Childhood Education (0-6 years) to High School, based on individual rhythms.
Innovative educational model that breaks with traditional patterns
In the heart of Seville, Sevilla Reggio Emilia School has emerged as an innovative educational model that breaks with traditional, obsolete approaches that are disconnected from the needs of today’s society. Its goal is to support the comprehensive development of the individual and provide a quality curriculum through active research by students and the promotion of individual talents that give meaning to the presence of each human being in the world and are therefore the driving force and motivation for learning. In addition, as an international school, it provides cultural and multilingual exchange, with the openness to the world that this entails, as well as the possibility of facilitating transfers to other parts of the world, with transfers between international centers being a frequent and facilitating practice.
This project was born out of the evolution of El Castillo Mágico nursery school, founded in 2019, which offers a second home for children aged 0 to 3 with a respectful and friendly approach. Over time, El Castillo Mágico grew alongside families and students, incorporating the second cycle of Early Childhood Education, Primary, and Secondary Education. Sevilla Reggio Emilia School provides a school where students want to be from early childhood, a beautiful, comfortable place designed to promote consistent, quality education. Its approach integrates the contributions of 21st-century neuroscience, allowing students to develop holistically in a bilingual environment in Spanish and English.
Particularly relevant is the conviction that every person is competent from birth. This promotes a democratic dialogue between students, families, and the environment, recognizing the multiple talents and interests of each child. Active listening is key in this community, understood as the ability to connect with what is happening in the present moment, whether in oneself, in others, or in the environment. In addition, the role of the arts, music, and nature is central to the teaching and learning process. Sevilla Reggio Emilia School is the first bilingual center in Spain to base its educational program entirely on the arts and exposure to the natural and social environment, using the arts as nonverbal languages that connect directly with the emotions and cognitive, expressive, and creative development of students.
The center’s methodology
The pedagogical approach of the Sevilla Reggio Emilia School is inspired by the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy, which promotes the innate competence of human beings from birth. The school is committed to a personalized, respectful education based on love and connection.
The methodology includes the use of the arts as a driver of learning, encouraging creativity and individual expression in each student. Music, painting, dance, and other artistic disciplines are integrated into the curriculum as essential tools for comprehensive development. In addition, the school works closely with families, creating a constant dialogue to ensure that each child reaches their full potential.
The center’s facilities
The spaces at Sevilla Reggio Emilia School are designed to be active agents in the students’ education. Every corner of the school has been carefully designed, from the classrooms to the common areas, the office, the library, the bathrooms, and the kitchen.
The center has natural light in all its rooms, allowing students to observe changes in weather and seasons, connecting with nature from the moment they arrive in the morning. The aesthetics are linked to nature, creating a calm environment that encourages sustainable learning. These facilities are not only functional, but also designed to provide comfort and beauty, offering a space where children feel motivated and happy.
