Learning in Elementary School
From the age of 5, children already ask to participate in methodically structured learning and training processes, but this should not lead to mechanical training or “false learning” through memorization.
The transition from Kindergarten to Elementary School
From the age of 5, children are progressively requesting to participate in methodically structured learning and exercise processes that require conscious effort. They ask questions and need to find out the answers and establish links between things.
This should not lead to rote learning or “false learning” by heart, but should be the impetus for carrying out, within a warm, harmonious and bonding environment, rich and exciting processes of investigation with the guidance of the adults who accompany them.
Attention to the individuality of the child requires trusting in their potential, allowing them to develop and discovering them without prejudice or labels. It starts from the idea that we are all diverse, so the aim is not homogeneity but coexistence in a community. In which each person contributes their being.
The question would be: What do you want the students to be like in 20 years’ time? And the answers themselves will lead you towards active pedagogies, which are those that promote meaningful learning and the overall development of the person and their skills to succeed in life (emotional and physical well-being, and sufficient culture and knowledge).
